So, we almost beat the Spurs.
The bigger question is, what's the big deal?
We almost beat the Spurs is like saying that when I played NCAA Football 08 today, my scoing 13 points in the last 2 minutes of a game that I was 31 points down in was a significant event. The Spurs have been contenders for over a decade now, and this team knows how to win games. They go into Cruise Control for a good part of the season. Sure, they might lose one or two games to bad opponents (even the Warriors beat them back in 2005), but it really means nothing to them in the bigger picture. Their season, I'm sorry to say, starts in April. It's too bad that our season ended in the middle of November.
Now, I know that I'm sounding like a massive Debbie Downer, but what is someone supposed to say when their team is 2-23? I mean, I followed the Warriors when they won just over 30 games in 05-06, and I had a heck of a time. But a 2-23 record? I don't know how Joe over at Thunderguru has put up with this for so long. I'm sorry, but the next time you see a positive post from me, it will be when we win, not come to within 5 points.
Coming close to a good team is nothing new for the Thunder. They were beating the Celtics by double digits at home in the first quarter. But the objective here isn't to come close and then say that we're really improving. I mean, I know, this is the first time that this team has gotten close to another good team late in the 4th. But, again, and I know I'm sounding like a broken record, the point is not to get close. The point is to seat the deal, bada bing. If we could do that, we wouldn't be the laughingstock of the league. Just think that if we won our 3 closest games: The Timberwolves at home, the Suns at home, and this game at the Spurs, we sould be 5-20. Sure, that's not a good record by any means, but we would be ahead of the Timberwolves and Wizards. And while that does hurt our lottery chances and it still means we suck, it would at least give me and the other fans something to cheer about. Right now, this team is in shambles! Even if we do get Blake Griffin, who says this makes us any better? The other guys have still proven that they can't win.
But alas, I must be straight with you. I didn't watch either of these games. Yes, I know I'm a bad blogger, yes, I know I should be shunned, but Royce was gone when P.J. was fired, so I think a couple of close Texas games are spashes in the bucket compared to that. So, I'll just hand out awards based on the box score and you're going to have to take it!

In other news, I participated in the Blogger NBA Power Rankings and the MVP/RoY Vote.
I'm not much of a MVP follower, but I do really like doing the power rankings. Good comments on both of them, hope you guys enjoy.
I'm looking forward to the Clippers game tonight....so I can finally write a real recap!

Sounds to me like its the weather thats got you down... watching this team play, one can tell a noticable difference as of late... I hear what you're saying about collecting wins... but to disregard visable improvement is short-sighted... they are playing and competing at a higher level... and eventually that will begin to translate into some W's...
