Battle of the Hairgel and Tattoos: Basketball Telekinesis
Yahoo! Box Score
I'll start this recap off with a quote from Pappagiorgio, the proprietor of the new Thunder Blog (aptly named OKC Thunder Blog):
"…and I don’t know why, maybe its just me being crazy and happy after the win the other night, but for some reason I’m just feeling like tonight is the night the Thunder get a win that NO ONE will expect them to get."

The Gamewinner
Someone has some great intuition! That's basically the only reason I can give as to why this game was so close. In the first quarter, which I missed most of because I had to pick up okluschen, whose house is far away from mine, it was all Nuggets. From what little I saw and heard, it looked like there was a lot of defensive pressure and stealing on both ends, but not a lot of missed shots. In the 2nd, the Thunder really took control and kept it through the third. In the 4th, the Nuggets battled back and threatened to take control, but the Thunder never fell behind by more than 5. Eventually, they were down, 117-119 with about 30 seconds to go. They made the defensive stop, and the ball bounced off a Nugget to go out of bounds. With 5 seconds left, they inbounded the ball to Kevin Durant, and he was well guarded, but he made an extremely clutch 3, to go up 120-119. Then, with the entire arena in jubilation, Carmelo Anthony (Thunder Plunderer) comes right out of the timeout, 2 or 3 seconds left, and hits a corner 3. With 0.1 seconds left, Earl Watson tries to tap it in from halfcourt, but he falls short, and the game was over.

The Almost Gamewinner
Despite the loss, the difference tonight for the Thunder lied entirely in Damien Wilkins (3rd Star) and Earl Watson (Thunder Down Under). Usually, Earl Watson provides very little offense, and Damien Wilkins is entirely useless on the floor. But, for some reason, both of them decided to go off offensively tonight. Now, don't get me wrong, they did take some really dumb shots (mostly Watson) but the lack of defense tonight allowed these role players to shine. Kevin Durant was awesome and hit a game winning shot, so he grabs the Thunder Wonder. Nobody had a really bad game per se, but Swift went 1-2 from the floor in 24 minutes and Johan Petro went 1-3 from the floor in 8 minutes, so the Thunder Blunder will go to Petro, even though his defense was decent.
I sat next to some nice people during the games, as I met a guy who knows Chris Mullin and Jason Kidd, and I saw again this loud grandma who lives in Rural Oklahoma. I had previously met her and her daughter at the Hornets games. On top of this, the aformentioned guy offered to get some of my Warriors gear signed, because he had connections to the organization. One totally slammin' dude! I'm hoping I can get my Unstoppable, Baby! sign signed....
Next Game: Tuesday, January 6th vs. The New York Knicks. Can the years-end and years-beginning home stand end in a .500 record? Only time will tell....
On a side note: This was the first time in NBA history that all 30 teams were playing on the same night, and, judging from the NBATV highlights, we easily had the most exciting game. That's nothing to sneeze at.

The Thunder will need to rest up as well these next few games as they have the new D'Antoni Knicks, and will need to be well rested to run the floor.
Nugg Doctor- :-( You had the better blog name, but you just had to take away a victory too!
