I'm not in the mood to give you some nice little opening before the game, so let's just begin.
Backstory: Both Jeff Green and KD come back to the swing of things after that aweful game they had. The real story for this game doesn't lie with the two main stars, but the third wheel on the tricycle. Russell Westbrook will be facing his foil, Derrick Rose, for the first time tonight. They come from very different backgrounds, Derrick Rose the college superstar whom everyone wanted in Chicago, and Russ the guard who was good in college, but didn't start, and when he was taken by the Thunder, many fans thought it was a mistake. Even those who praised the pick thought that it would only pay off later. However, Russ has proven to be one of the better rookie guards in recent history. Derrick Rose is also putting up numbers that many thought were off-limits to rookie players. They'll square off tonight. While it is unlikely that Russell will be awarded the ROY over Rose, who really cares. It's only an award. What really matters is how good the players are years from now. Emeka Okafor won ROY over Dwight Howard. Would any of you take Emeka over Dwight now?
Match-Ups:
Derrick Rose vs. Russell Westbrook
Edge: Push
It's clash of the titans ladies and gentlemen, how can I pick a winner?
Ben Gordon vs. Desmond Mason
Edge: Gordon
He's having an unbelievably resurgant year after the drafting of D-Rose.
Thabo Sefolosha vs. Kevin Durant
Edge: KD
Luol Deng would have given him a better game, but he's injured, so KD gets what is basically, a free pass
Drew Gooden vs. Jeff Green
Edge: Green
Does Drew still have that ridiculous beard, I haven't been paying attention. Jeff Green wins regardless
Aaron Gray vs. Robert Swift
Edge: Swift!!!
This is a very similar match-up of two guys who probably shouldn't be NBA starters. KRSTIC!!!
Battle of the Benches
Edge: Bulls
Almost a push, but but Lindsay Hunter and Larry Hughes should come through for them.
Coaching and Intangibles
Edge: Bulls
At home against the Thunder, does it get much better than that?
Player to Watch: Russell Westbrook. (See Backstory)
God of Thunder's Pick: Bulls 90 Thunder 87
