Backstory: Coming off back to back overtime games, it's clear that something has clicked for this team. Yeah, sure, the competition could be better, not like Chicago and New Jersey are blazing through the league. Still, these are teams that have more than double our wins and not entirely out of the playoffs thanks to a shallow Eastern Conference. Is it Krstic providing some sort of sprak? Is it Kyle Weaver's improved playing time? You're guess is as good as mine, but really they've gontten a whole lot better sine that large homestand around the New Year and excluding that terrible embarrasment against Minnesota, have been right in every game. Tonight, they play Utah, who has stumbled some due to tough injuries against Mehmet Okur and more importanly Carlos Boozer and Deron Williams. Okur and Williams will be playing tonight, but should still be a good game, as always. Another OT perhaps???
Match-Ups:
Russell Westbrook vs. Deron Williams
Edge: Deron
No bonus points for the gold medal. It's ok though, he didn't need them. Maybe some Russ will win match-ups like this. I said maybe.
Desmond Mason vs. Ronnie Price
Edge: Mason
These are two guys that made a name for themselves in this league with athleticism. Desmond Mason mutch more established and greater upside
Kevin Durant vs. Ronnie Brewer
Edge: KD
Brewer is averaging double digit scoring, but KD is fourth in the league in PPG average.
Jeff Green vs. Paul Milsap
Edge: Green
The next Malone? I've heard it before, and hey, it could happen (credit McDonalds). But he's not there yet, Green wins
Nick Collison vs. Mehmet Okur
Edge: Collison
Nick has greatly stepped up his game, I've forgotten all about the start Chris Wilcox movement.
Battle of the Benches
Edge: Thunder
The Jazz are aching a little, and the addition of Krstic really helps of course
Coaching and Intangibles
Edge: Jazz
The Jazz enter on a four game winning streak and the Thunder are playing their best basketball of the season. However, the addition of Sloan give the Jazz the edge
Player to Watch: Russell Westbrook. It's his chance to go up against one of the best, and also trying to put on a show due to this being the last day of voting for the rookie dunk contest.
God of Thunder's Pick: Thunder find a way to lose, Jazz 89 Thunder 88
