I know I don't have a Trailblazers recap, but at this point, who cares? The All-Star festivities are about to begin. We here at Blue Blitz decided to organize the other Thunder Blogs into a little competition. Since the Thunder have 3 players in All-Star Weekend and since we all want to proclaim ourselves as the best blog around, it seemed like the right thing to do.
Here are/were the Rules:
1. Participants must run or write for a Thunder Blog.
2. Participants will answer 10 questions, and the person with the most correct responses will win.
3. If there is a tie, the person with the closest to the total score of the All-Star Game will win.
4. The winner will recieve nothing but the pride and glory of being the best Thunder Blog.
Outside of the two guys who run Blue Blitz (Zorgon and Okluschen), we got Royce from Daily Thunder and Pappagiorgio from Welcome to Loud City to participate. Below is what we predicted, and what Zorgon expects to go down for each event. Pappagiorgio dropped some thoughts on a few events as well.
Friday:
Celebrity All-Star Game MVP: (Participants)
Okluschen: Terrell Owens
Pappagiorgio: Terrell Owens
Pappagiorgio's Thoughts: Seriously, can anyone else in the game even come close to winning the MVP (Most Vain Person) of this game? No one else has a shot; I mean seriously, the guy wanted to be in the spotlight so bad he ran out and defaced the giant star Texas Stadium, not once, but twice for good measure. Then just to complete the ironic idiocy of his life and career, he became a Dallas Cowboy and followed that up by crying for Tony Romo, attempting to kill himself, and self destructing the entire team and organization.
Royce: Clyde Drexler
Zorgon: Rick Fox
Zorgon's Thoughts: Honestly, this is the celebrity All-Star game that we've all been hoping for. Less B, C, and D list celebrities, and more WNBA players, multi-sport athletes, and NBA Legends. It's funny that while Clyde Drexler and Dominique Wilkins are listed as "NBA" Legends, Dan Majerle and Rick Fox are listed as "Suns" and "Lakers" legends respectively. It's hard to take any Globetrotter seriously, and WNBA big men (well, big women) probably won't play well. If there was a WNBA shooter, I'd go with her though. So, it comes down to either a celebrity (uh, no) or an NBA Legend. Clyde Drexler, Dominique Wilkins, and Dan Majerle have all been out of the game for quite some time, but Rick Fox has played as recently as 2004. He also has to keep buff for his acting career, so I'm with him. Should be a great game.
Rookie-Sophomore Game Winner:
Okluschen: Rookies
Pappagiorgio: Sophomores
Pappagiorgio's Thoughts: Kevin Durant, Jeff Green, and Al Horford. If these guys decide to be even least bit selfish toward the other guys on the team, the Sophomore team will light up the scoreboard, especially Kevin Durant. Its always a toss up in these kind of events as to how the players will decide to play.
Royce: Sophomores
Zorgon: Rookies
Zorgon's Thoughts: The Sophomores are really undersized, so I expect the rookies to have a feast inside. The Sophmores will probably throw up a lot of bricks due to lots of them being outside oriented.
Rookie-Sophomore Game MVP: (Rosters)
Okluschen: Marc Gasol
Pappagiorgio: Kevin Durant
Pappagiorgio's Thoughts: Who else? Seriously the guy should be pissed the NBA snubbed him and didn’t throw him on the All-Star roster. This kid has something to prove and will score 20+ points, and even he really gets selfish, 30-40. Of course, anyone who has watched KD play knows he’s not a selfish player, but if the other players look toward him for buckets, he’ll gladly throw them down.
Royce: Rodney Stuckey
Zorgon: Greg Oden * IF Not Playing due to injury, Marc Gasol
Zorgon's Thoughts: Everyone on the Sophmore team is 40 pounds lighter than him.
Saturday:
G-E-I-C-O (H-O-R-S-E) Winner: (Participants)
Okluschen: Joe Johnson
Pappagiorgio: Kevin Durant
Pappagiorgio's Thoughts: His range will help him win this event. He’s also got the height and athletic ability to pull off any crazy dunks the other opponents happen to throw down. In the end, Durant will win with something special from deep.
Royce: Kevin Durant
Zorgon: Orange Juice Mayonnaise
Zorgon's Thoughts: Why not? He's the only guy repping Memphis on All-Star Saturday, and they need to win something. I mean, have the Grizzlies ever won anything on All-Star Saturday? Anything?
Haier Shooting Stars Winner: (Participants)
Okluschen: Pistons
Pappagiorgio: Spurs
Royce: Spurs
Zorgon: Spurs
Zorgon's Thoughts: The new Celebrity All-Star Game makes this event almost obsolete. Still, everyone misses the Twin Towers, and it's nice to see them performing together again. The NBA participants for the other cities are pretty weak. Oklahoma City should have a team. They could have Earl Watson be the NBA player, waived player Donyell Marshall be the Legend, and Courtney Paris be the (future) WNBA representative. Anyone with me?
Playstation Skills Challenge Winner: (Participants)
Okluschen: Devin Harris
Pappagiorgio: Derrick Rose
Royce: Tony Parker
Zorgon: Devin Harris
Zorgon's Thoughts: When the stars participated, it was usually just whoever wanted to win would win, since most of them decided to be lazy. This time around, the competition will be a bit more exciting because the somewhat smaller stars will actually care about the event. I'll go with Devin Harris because I think his quickness will help a lot in the competition, while Tony Parker might be a bit slower.
Foot Locker 3-Point-Shootout Winner: (Participants)
Okluschen: Danny Granger
Pappagiorgio: Roger Mason, Jr.
Royce: Jason Kapono
Zorgon: Mike Bibby
Zorgon's Thoughts: This is the lamest shootout ever, but I'll go with Mike Bibby, just for kicks. There's no real way to predict this competition, since the winner is just who's hottest at the moment.
Sprite Slam Dunk Competition Winner: (Participants)
Okluschen: J.R. Smith
Pappagiorgio: Dwight Howard
Pappagiorgio's Thoughts: It’ll be fun to watch Nate Robinson though.
Royce: J.R. Smith
Zorgon: Nate Robinson
Zorgon's Thoughts: Nate Robinson is a little ball of muscle, and it will be huge fun watching him dunk, especially against Dwight Howard. In fact, he should dunk over Dwight Howard. J.R. Smith is more of a scorer than a dunker at this point, and too old to win. Rudy Fernandez has no chance. The only reason he's in is because he has a bigger fan base in Portland and Spain as compared to Joe Alexander (Milwaukee) and Russell Westbrook (UCLA and Oklahoma City).
Sunday:
All-Star Game Winner:
Okluschen: West
Pappagiorgio: East
Royce: East
Zorgon: East
Zorgon's Thoughts: The East have a lot of guys in the cream of the crop, so I'd say the overall talent level is just better. Still, it's anyones game.
All-Star Game MVP: (Rosters)
Okluschen: Pau Gasol
Pappagiorgio: Dwayne Wade
Royce: LeBron James
Zorgon: Shaquille O'Neal
Zorgon's Thoughts: The Big Diesel! 'Nuff said.
Tiebreaker:
Predict the total score of the All-Star Game:
Okluschen: 236
Pappagiorgio: 279
Royce: 257
Zorgon: 244
So, it's Welcome to Loud City vs. Blue Blitz vs. Daily Thunder. Let's tear the roof of of this sucka!!!! Oh yeah, and if anyone knows how to buy a Celebrity All-Star Game Uniform, please please tell me. They look extremely sexy.
