I still....can't....get out....of this damned GLASS BOX!!!!

First of all, apologies for this late recap, but I was at the Sooners game yesterday, and that took a lot of my energy. Also, there was a lot of exciting NFL action on. If you're interested, Ben's Broncos upset the Cowboys, and my Browns actually managed to win a game.

Okay, this is yet another pointless Pre-Season matchup that I have to cover with no visual analysis. I mean, I can analyze a game perfectly fine if I can see it in action, and watch the plays unfold. But if I'm listening to a radio, looking at a box score, or even looking at a play-by-play, I really can't tell you much that you wouldn't infer by yourself. Reguardless, it's pretty obvious that this was another one of those 4th quarter collapses due to scrubs. So, without further ado, I'll attempt to make some positives and negatives of this game....

Positives:

Doing what he does best!

Serge Ibaka owns your momma!

This is what we all wanted to see. 12 Points, 9 Rebounds, and 2 Blocks in 25 minutes. The dude is really the only rookie that is showing to the fans that he can play this year. I know that it's only the Pre-Season, but things are still looking up for him.

Mustaches Rule!

Kevin Ollie is Better Than I Expected

Honestly, I didn't expect anything at all out of this cat. But, he proved me wrong, with a solid All-Around Performance with 5 Assists and 2 Steals. If Westbrook or Livingston goes down, it looks like he can perform as a serviceable backup.

Another Strong Westbrook Performance

8 Assists, 3 Steals, and 1 Turnover! Looks like he's ready to be a PG in this league.

Negatives:

Another Weak Westbrook Performance

2-8 Field Goal Shooting with 0-2 from 3 Point Land is a complete joke.

The Other Rookies Still Look Like Trash

James Harden and B.J. Mullens still look like deer in the headlights. Mullens had 4 Points, 1 Rebound, and 1 Block in 23 minutes, and Harden had 8 Points, 1 Block, 1 Steal, 4 Turnovers, and 4 Fouls in 30 Minutes. While Harden is looking at least servicable, Mullens is looking like a complete mistake.

Kyle Weaver Needs to Stop Shooting

Weaver had a decent game but 1-7 shooting inexcusable, especially when all of your shots come from inside the arc. From experience, I notice that he drives inside a lot, but he really isn't able to do a lot but dribble right past the basket, because he has no way to get around or overpower the standard big man. So, he's forced into some bad layups or bad mid range shots that usually don't go in. And I'm suspecting that's what happened here.

We Still Can't Shoot 3 Pointers

Ever think there was a reason that P.J. Carlesimo had us attempting 0-3 3 Pointers in a game, all by Earl Watson? I mean, the guy isn't a completely worthless coach. At this point, the Thunder simply don't have a good 3 Point Shooter, with Harden looking like only a remote answer. My advice would be to stay away from the arc altogether unless absolutely necessary.

Nenad Krstic Needs Some Boards

Only 4 Rebounds? Comeon, You got out rebounded by Jeff Green and Serge Ibaka, two guys much smaller than you. Nenad Krstic will need to become more physical, unless we want to become some sort of Mike D'Antoni team. Still, a pretty impressive peformance from him overall.

Hornets Thoughts:

Julian Wright got the start over Peja Stojakovic tonight, but both of them looked like total horse crap, going for 1-11 and 2-8 respectively. Sharp shooters indeed.

To be honest, this team was literally carried on the backs of Devin Brown and Chris Paul. I know that most of these guys usually have better nights, but without those two, their shooting percentage is well below 30%, and no one scored higher than 8. Nevertheless, they filled up the intangibles quite well, and shooting percentage is meaningless when you manage to win by 9 and have such a great 4th quarter run.

On to the awards....

Thunder Wonder:

Serge Ibaka, with 12 Points, 9 Rebounds, and 2 Blocks in 25 minutes.

Thunder Down Under:

It's hard to decide, but I'll give it to Jeff Green. While he went an apalling 1-5 from 3 Point Territory, he still had 15 Points, 9 Rebounds, 1 Assist, 4 Turnovers, and 2 Steals in 33 minutes for a fairly solid performance.

Thunder Blunder:

B.J. Mullens, 4 Points, 1 Rebound, 1 Block, and 2 Fouls in 22 Minutes. He didn't help, he didn't hurt, he simply existed on the floor for 20 minutes. And in my book, not trying at all is worse than trying and failing. Though I'm sure he did try, still a sub-par performance from the rookie big man.

Thunder Plunderer:

Chris Paul? Need I Say More? Well, okay....he had 23 Points, 1 Rebound, 8 Assists, and 2 Steals. Another fantastic game from the player that we all miss.

Next Game: October 12th, vs. Phoenix, 7 PM CST, KSBI

Pre-Game, I'm going to meet the Thunder, and I'll be there are the Ford Center when we tip off our 2009-2010 Pre-Season. And everybody will be able to see it LIVE on television. I'm stoked, are you stoked? Lets bring the house down!

Someone go to the wrong game? I also like how the security guard is keeping his eye on him, and the girl behind him is shying away.
