I'll let everyone use their imagination here. The picture just looks odd.

Ah, yet another Pre-Season game....with no TV. Again, I can't infer a lot from this one, simply because I can only tell so much from a Box Score and a play-by-play. I heard a portion of the game on the radio, but I'm a visual learner, so I can't tell a lot from just audio of somebody else calling the game. Nevertheless, here's what I thought of some of the player performances:

Positives:

A solid game from James Harden, who had 11 Points on 5-9 Shooting, 5 Rebounds, and 2 Steals. This may look unimpressive at first, but his time on the floor (24 minutes) was a lot more productive and less hurtful to the team than his previous performances. Notably, he only missed 2 three pointers, which is less than the usual 5 or so, and he got points 6 out of the 7 times he shot from inside the arc. There were 3 turnovers and 4 fouls, but that's not incredibly bad, especially for a rookie. For that reason, I'm going to give him the Thunder Down Under Award for tonight.

Keep your eyes on the ball!

Just another day of work for Kevin Durant and Jeff Green. The former with 20 Points, 4 Rebounds, 2 Assists, 2 Steals, and 1 Block easily captures the Thunder Wonder award. Jeff Green had 11 Points, 7 Rebounds, and 3 Steals, but his day was hampered by his 4-11 shooting and 4 Turnovers. Still, a very solid outing.

Negatives:

The worst Ibaka performance yet came tonight, where he played only 12 minutes, but managed to go 1-6 from the floor for 3 Points, grab 4 Rebounds, turn it over, and foul out. I'd like to say it was a bad performance, but it looked more bizarre than anything else. He managed to shoot once and foul once every 2 minutes, along with grabbing a rebound every 3 minutes. This guy must have been all over the floor, which means he tried. Thus, he avoids a Thunder Blunder award, but it was still a very bad and very strange game from this enigma of a rookie.

Just an overall bad game. Green and Durant are going to go off on scoring every night, but when the rest of the team is held to 11 or less, then you know something is wrong.

B.J. Mullens had another night of nothing. I mean, you're 7 feet tall, you've got 13 minutes out on the floor, and you can't manage to grab a rebounds? Comeon. He had 3 points on 1-3 Field Goal and Free Throw Shooting, 1 Assist, 2 turnovers, and 1 Foul. That's an easy Thunder Blunder award for me. Talk about punching your ticket to Tulsa. I mean, he might as well get on the bus right now.

Some say the Rockets have a long season ahead of them, but there's a reason T-Mac has a glimmer in his eye, even while injured on the bench.

Rockets Thoughts:

POPS! Pops Mensah-Bonsu has been a well known (or, perhaps, not so well known) D-League ringer. By this, I mean that he is a excellent player in the D-League, and has shown flashes of skill in the NBA, but he has never latched on to an NBA club for an extended period of time. Why? Who knows, but hopefully with a depleted roster, the rockets will be a good place for Pops. and, so start off that streak of success, he can cherish his first Thunder Plunderer award, for 13 Points and 4 Rebounds in only 16 minutes.

The Rockets look like a well-oiled machine. Sure, they had some turnover problems, but nobody seemed to have trouble scoring (except, perhaps, for backup David Anderson). The Rockets won't set the world on fire this season, but even without their two superstars, they have a formula that works and managed to beat the Lakers in the playoffs for one game last year. I think they're a serious threat to make the playoffs, and a team to keep your eye on as the season goes on.

Next Game: October 20th, vs. San Antonio, 7:30 PM CST, KSBI (at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas)

Rest assured, the next two recaps will come later on tonight/early tomorrow. This Pre-Season will not escape examination!
