I want four wins too Scotty

Who would have thought 6 games in the OKC Thunder would be 3-3, and if the season ended today an eighth seed in the playoffs? No one expected this out of the Thunder. Sure they were supposed to get another year under their belt and next year get to the playoffs. But still its early and although the Thunder are off to this surprising start few people are talking about them and few expect them to maintain this success. Here is where it gets interesting, the Thunder's next four games @Kings, @Clippers, @Spurs, and back home for the Clippers again. Four games that the Thunder have a very real chance of winning. Yes they are both back to backs but the hardest game in my opinion, @Spurs, is the front half and the back half is at home. I know it is hard to go on the road and win particularly in a back to back situation but if you have to go on the road and go back to back who would you want to play? The Grizzlies and Timberwolves, okay maybe that would be the best case scenario but Kings and Clippers isn't half bad. Let's take a look at each game individually real quick and see why the Thunder might win and why they might lose.

Tuesday Nov 10th thunderlogo @ kings.

Why the Thunder will win.

Kevin Martin is out for the Kings; the first time these teams met Thabo Sefolosha harassed Kevin Martin all night and held him to 5-19 shooting. So this time around your best offensive weapon is out, you are relying on a rookie combo guard, Tyreke Evans, to lead your team. And you are playing a team that is coming off a thrilling win over the defending eastern conference champions.

Why the Thunder might lose.

They are coming off a thrilling win over the defending eastern conference champions. Playing a team they beat earlier in the year, that is playing without their top scorer. If you wonder what a trap game looks like this is it. If the Thunder come out lacking intensity and get down big the Kings could spring the trap and get the win.

Wednesday Nov 11th thunderlogo @ clippers

Why the Thunder will win.

Eric Gordon is battling a pulled groin, Blake Griffin has a broken knee cap, and they are the Clippers. Let's say Gordon comes back and is ready to play come Wednesday he gets the honor of playing against Thabo Sefolosha. I don't doubt Sefolosha can frustrate and prevent Gordon from taking over the game and the way the Thunder are playing on defense that's what it would take for the Clippers to get a victory.

Why the Thunder might lose.

This is the second game of a back to back on the west coast; the game starts at 9:30 central and if the Kings put up a fight the Thunder could be tired. Chris Kaman and Marcus Camby are two big shot blockers which is the type of player the Thunder has struggled against, last game against the Magic being the exception, which could force Westbrook into some bad decisions.

Sat Nov 14th thunderlogo @ san_antonio_spurs_logo1

Why the Thunder will win.

The Thunder and Spurs played four times last year and split the series each team winning once at home and once on the road. The Thunder know they can win in San Antonio and know they can play with the best in the west, this game also comes after two days off for the Thunder and Spurs so both teams will be well rested. This is the toughest game of the four game series to close out the first half of November but at this point they should be on a three game winning streak and looking forward to coming home.

Why the Thunder might lose.

The Spurs are a good team, they will be at home, and they will be well rested. Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili, and Richard Jefferson make up an impressive core group of players. Throw in Roger Mason, Matt Bonner, DeJuan Blair, and Michael Finley and you have an impressive team there is no way around it. It will take an impressive effort from Durant, Westbrook, and Green to make this win a reality.

Sun Nov 15th thunderlogo vs. clippers

Why the Thunder will win.

There is no place like home... coming off a road trip... on the back half of a back to back... after what should be a killer game in San Antonio. At least it's not the Lakers, If Gordon is not back by this game it's a surprise but Griffin will still be out. This is still Griffin's homecoming of a sort, having played at OU, and even though he won't be playing there will still be quite a few people there to see him. The first Clippers game should tell us a lot about how this game will go but I trust Scott Brooks to make some adjustments and keep the Clippers on their toes.

Why the Thunder might lose.

Back to back games are tough, particularly the second game when the first is a hard fought battle which the Spurs game should be. If Camby and Kaman can get going the Clippers could control the paint and control the tempo of the game.

Can the Thunder go 4-0? At the least they should go 3-1. With a schedule that should get easier in the second half of the season if the Thunder can keep above .500 the talk will start to build. The Trailblazer comparisons will come in droves. The Thunder will put their first player into the All-star game and possibly a second if Jeff Green can continue to rebound and score. Westbrook will have an awesome game in the rookie sophomore game. And everyone everywhere will be talking Thunder. So get your seat on the Thunder bandwagon before it gets too crowded.
