Quarter by Quarter observations
First Quarter
Both teams have started out ice cold KD, Westbrook, and Green have all had open looks that were just a bit off. Fortunately the Clippers also have been cold.
Krstic with the nice post move and gets the bucket.
Baron Davis is really trying to figure out what he can and can't do with Westbrook on him, so far the answer is not much.
Thabo gets the pass and drives into the lane where he is fouled.
Westbrook is finding the open man and playing under control.
First post up by Kaman of Krstic. Krstic puts a body on him and keeps him from backing him down, Kaman passes out of the post.
Westbrook is not shooting well he is 0-4, but he is dishing the assists and generally making the right decisions.
Kaman is 4-5, a strong efficient effort; the Thunder will need to step up the defensive intensity down low to stay in this game.
Score to end the Quarter 26-23 Clippers
Second Quarter
Harden drives the lane to open up the second quarter and gets to the line. While Kaman and Camby are on the bench the Clippers really lack a good shot blocker.
Jeff Green is having a tough night, picks up a couple of bad fouls on defense and another on the offensive end. This just is not Jeff's night he was riding the stationary bike when he came out of the game earlier so hopefully he is not injured.
The Thunder keeps tipping balls trying to get the rebound but they keep tipping them to the Clippers for easy scores. It has happened twice now and each time it gave the Clippers another shot which they sank.
Westbrook gets the offensive rebound off the Sefolosha miss. He manages to tip it in for two.
Durant pulls the Mason on Al Thornton for three freebies. That's the second time he has gotten that call tonight. If he keeps it up he could foul Thornton out just off those fouls.
Ibaka gets a monster offensive rebound and gets the ball to Westbrook who makes the bucket. Ibaka is really flying high when he gets up for the rebounds it is like everyone else is standing still.
Score to finish the half 49-41 Clippers
Half
The Thunder are 1-11 from three. Sefolosha is 1-8 from the field, Westbrook is 1-5, Harden is 0-5 and Kevin Durant is the only Thunder player with more than 5 points. Interesting that for the second night one or two Thunder players are trying to carry the load, last night at half only KD and Jeff Green were over 5 now KD stands alone. The good news is this is the Clippers, if the Thunder can hit a few more shots and play some good defense they should come out with a win. The bad news Kaman is 5-8 so he isn't having any issues with the Thunder defense so far, the Clippers have an 8 point lead, and it's the second game of the back to back. One more piece of good news the Spurs lead by 7 at the half last night in a game I am finding more and more in common with this one, so once again the Thunder need to step up and come out with some energy in the second half.
Third Quarter
Davis is out in front on the fast break and gets his body into Jeff Green who will pick up his fourth foul. Baron Davis is wincing as he shoots his free throws after the contact with Green.
Westbrook is all over the place, he drives the lane and gets knocked around, then as he is getting up he gets the ball and Baron Davis grabs him again.
The Thunder is doing a lot better job of getting every rebound both offensive and defensive. They have owned the board here for a good three minute stretch in the third quarter.
Krstic is playing great defense on Kaman first denying him the ball then on the second try he pushes Kaman back into a falling away jump shot that misses off the iron.
Westbrook driving the lane again gets to the cup, can't make the layup but gets fouled and now has a chance to hit free throws for the lead. Westbrook makes both free throws to put the Thunder up by one.
The Clippers are starting to go down low to Kaman to try and help stabilize the game a little after the furious Thunder rally.
Westbrook has turned his game around this third quarter he is driving to the lane and getting points.
Back down to Kaman who forces the shot. Thomas is in and is playing physical.
Score to finish the Quarter 76-75 Thunder
Fourth Quarter
KD with the three as the shot clock expires. He is shooting well tonight.
The Thunder are keeping it close with most of their offense on the bench right now. If they can stay in range when Westbrook and Krstic come back they could beat the Clippers to the finish line.
In comes Krstic and Westbrook and the Thunder are only down two with 7 minutes left in the quarter. And Westbrook sinks the pull up jumper.
Green comes in and hits the big deuce after sitting much of the third and fourth with foul issues.
Green with a nice defensive sequence against Camby forces the bad shot to beat the shot clock.
Two minutes left and here comes an important inbounds play, the Thunder have 6 on the shot clock down 1. Westbrook gets the shot off to put the Thunder up one off the great ball fake.
The Thunder are just not getting quality shots. Green had a nice look from the corner but can't put it away.
Score to finish the Game 101-93 Clippers
The Good and The Bad individually
The Good
Kevin Durant
It is tough when 40 points isn't enough to win, but tonight it wasn't. Durant just needed a little more help either on the defensive side or the offensive side tonight to get the win. He did have his shot falling tonight particularly when it counted in the third and fourth quarters. He finishes the night with 40 points on 14-25 shooting and 8 rebounds.
Nenad Krstic
Krstic struggled again in the first half but came on in the second. He finished the night with 10 points on 5-9 shooting and 5 rebounds. The Thunder just could not get the pick and roll game going tonight which limited Krstic's effectiveness.
The Bad
Thabo Sefolosha 1-9 from the field and 0-5 from three for 4 points. Westbrook went 5-17 from the field not bad but not great particularly down the stretch he was missing shots. Harden has been finding many different ways to get involved in the game, tonight 0-8 3 rebounds and 2 assists. Still the Thunder had a chance in this one but it just slipped away.
